Terms of Service
Last updated 5 September 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Asymptote (“we”, “us”). By using the site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
1. Who may use Asymptote
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom you must be at least 16, or have permission from a parent or guardian. You may play without an account at any age permitted by your local law, but unranked play does not create an account and does not appear on any leaderboard.
2. Your account
- Sign-in is by a one-time code or link sent to your email address, or by Google. We never ask for or store a password.
- You are responsible for anything done through your account and for keeping access to your email address secure.
- Your display name is public. It must not impersonate another person, contain slurs or sexual content, advertise, or include a URL. We may hide or reset a name that breaks this, and a hidden name is replaced by a generated one on public leaderboards until you change it.
- One account per person.
3. Fair play
The whole product is a fair comparison between players, so the following will end your access, with no refund beyond what the Refund Policy already guarantees:
- Automating play, or using a script, bot or solver to produce answers.
- Attempting to extract, copy or republish the problem bank or any answer held by the service.
- Using more than one account to gain leaderboard position, XP, badges or free runs.
- Interfering with the service or attempting to access data that is not yours, including probing, scraping at volume, or circumventing rate limits.
Using a calculator, paper, or your own brain is not cheating. We care about automation and answer extraction, not about how you do the maths.
4. The game is free
Unranked play is unlimited and free, with no account. A free account additionally gets 1 ranked run per mode per day, earns titles, XP, levels and badges, and appears on the leaderboards.
5. The Pass
- Monthly Pass. A recurring subscription, billed in US dollars, that renews automatically each month until you cancel. Cancel at any time and access continues until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Founding Pass. A single payment, limited to the first 1000 accounts, granting access for as long as the service operates plus a Founder badge that will never be granted again. It is not transferable.
Prices are set by region and are locked to your account at signup, based on the country detected when the account was created. They are not re-evaluated later, so travelling never changes your price. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card details.
“Lifetime” in relation to the Founding Pass means the operating life of the service, which we do not guarantee will run forever. If we shut the service down permanently we will give at least 30 days’ notice by email, and will refund a fair share of any Founding Pass bought in the 12 months before that notice.
6. Refunds
Any charge can be refunded within 14 days. The full terms, including your statutory rights if you are in the EU or UK, are in the Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms.
7. Changes to the game
Difficulty curves, scoring, XP rates, level costs, badges and leaderboard rules may change as the game is balanced. We will not retroactively remove a title, level, badge or leaderboard placement you have already earned. If we make a change that materially reduces what a paid Pass provides, you may cancel and ask for a pro-rata refund of the unused portion, even outside the 14-day window.
8. Availability
The service is provided as-is. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we may suspend it for maintenance. We do not guarantee that any particular problem is free of error, though we would like to know when one is. Please write to us.
9. Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or CAD $50. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and nothing here affects your non-excludable rights as a consumer under the law of your own country.
10. Ending your access
You can stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or end access if you break section 3, or if we are required to by law. If we end your access for a reason that is not your fault, we will refund the unused portion of any Pass.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you we will give notice by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your own country.
